Slovyansk has been the epicenter of the separatist conflict ravaging eastern Ukraine for months. Many of its residents have left the city as a result of the daily shootouts between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists but many stayed and continue to endure shelling despite the cease-fire declared by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
