Retailers in several cities have boarded up windows to protect their stores against any potential unrest on or after the November 3 election. In downtown Washington, businesses and government buildings have boarded up their windows and covered doors with plywood. In New York City, many stores, restaurants, and hotels have barricaded their entrances and windows. Similar scenes were observed in Denver, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles.
