Volodymyr Zelenskiy took the oath of office as the president of Ukraine on May 20 and immediately announced that he is dissolving the Verkhovna Rada, the country's parliament. In his inaugural speech, Zelenskiy also called for the dismissal of several top security officials and said he would start a dialogue to stop the fighting with Russia-backed separatists in the country's east.
